Today I’m highlighting the last painting I completed before the birth of my daughter. This is the only painting I worked on at all during my pregnancy, granted, it was almost completed before I found out I was pregnant (It was an exhausting time and I simply didn’t have any energy left to paint) but I did manage to finish it up with some of the line work with black and silver metallic sharpies and a Montana acrylic blue paint pen. I’ve always loved working with sharpies. It may seem like a pretty ordinary supply, but I like the edgy, grungy feel you can get with them. It brings me back to the days of scribbling my favorite lyrics and doodles all over my school binders and my converse shoes.. Montana paint pens give me control similar to sharpies but with the quality and thickness of the paint. I’m a big fan and plan on using them a lot in the future.
Would You Go Back was a reflection on some of the paths I went down earlier in life, and places I could have ended up if I had continued down those routes. I certainly don’t imagine I’d be half as content and happy as I am lucky enough to now be.. and my daughter wouldn’t be here. I didn’t know about her when I started this, but I’m certainly glad I chose the path that led to her.
Would You Go Back is available for purchase for $285.
